Dad waited at every rainy football practice, cheering from his yellow raincoat.
You stood in every downpour / So I could learn to shine.

[Verse 1] The field was mud, the sky was grey You never missed a Saturday A yellow coat beside the line You raised your hand when I raised mine [Chorus] You stood in every downpour So I could learn to shine. You stood in every downpour So I could learn to shine. [Verse 2] Now sixty candles fill the room I see that coat through every June You taught me how to stand up tall And how to catch somebody’s fall [Chorus] You stood in every downpour So I could learn to shine. You stood in every downpour So I could learn to shine. [Outro] You stood in every downpour So I could learn to shine.
